Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton step in to take royal duties as she’s rushed to hospital

If you looked around the Wimbledon crowd, you might have seen a woman who looked strikingly like Kate Middleton, the most anticipated participant. Carole and Michael Middleton, the Princess of Wales’s parents, were seen enjoying the grass court games in the crowd on day four. Michael’s yellow tie and blue suit were nicely contrasted by Carole’s floral dress and tailored white blazer. From their box, they paid close attention to the delight of spectators.

Kate Middleton presented the men’s and women’s singles finalists with their trophies last year, as she has done numerous times before. Kate has attended the tournament many times, garnering attention for her distinctive outfits and animated facial expressions.

English royals expert Hillary Fordwich recently advised Fox News that the princess aims to return to the competition. Fordwich stated that Kate’s next objective is to attend the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club beginning on July 1st. Kate typically watches most major matches in the Royal Box and later presents trophies to the winners, being an ardent tennis fan and supporter of the club. Fordwich’s remarks came before those of All England Club chair Debbie Jevans, who told Telegraph Sport that they would provide Middleton with as much flexibility as possible during her cancer treatment. To accommodate Middleton’s schedule, the announcement of who would present the trophies could be made as late as the morning of the finals.

Middleton’s attendance at the Trooping the Colour ceremony last month marked her first major royal event since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March. She indicated she would be present at the celebration for King Charles III, who is also battling cancer. A few days earlier, giving her first lengthy update on her condition since the release of her initial pre-taped message.

Yesterday, Carole and Michael Middleton attended the renowned Wimbledon tennis tournament in London, but their daughter Princess Catherine of Wales was noticeably absent. Carole and Michael watched the tennis from the Royal Box on Centre Court. Carole wore a bright midi dress with a ruffled neckline and puffy sleeves, in keeping with the summer theme of the tournament. Carole might have gotten some style advice from her daughter, who has been a fan of the London-based brand for a long time. For example, she wore their green maxi dress with a leopard print last June.

Although royal fans will undoubtedly be disappointed to learn that Kate did not attend Wimbledon with her parents yesterday, her absence is not particularly surprising. She has stepped back from her royal duties while receiving treatment for her cancer. At the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony last month, Kate made her first public appearance since her diagnosis in 2024. However, she informed her followers in an Instagram statement that she would make few public appearances in the coming months. She wrote, “I hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but I am also aware that I am not out of the woods yet.”

Even though it seems unlikely that Kate will attend Wimbledon this year, the Princess may still make an appearance to present the trophies at the event’s conclusion.
