Diana’s family ‘key’ to repairing Prince Harry and Prince William’s shattered relationship
EXCLUSIVE: Everyone is hoping that there might be some kind of intervention from Jane or Charles [Spencer] which will hopefully bring the brothers back together, said a source.
Prince Harry flew from his home in the US to join his brother at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham.
“Harry and William were both present at the memorial,” said the source. “They sat apart and didn’t appear to speak with each other during the service.
He told MailOnline: “The memorial service was yesterday [Thursday]. The private funeral took place earlier in the week with just [close] family.”
Describing the sight of the estranged siblings, Reverend Tansey said: “Yes, it was quite a surprise to me.”
The vicar also said he did not recall Harry and William speaking to each other at a reception after the service, but said there were a “lot of family members and friends speaking to them”.
“Everyone is hoping that there might be some kind of intervention from Jane or Charles [Spencer] which will hopefully bring them back together.
“It will take some time but it is looking like a possibility.”
“Harry didn’t have plans to visit the UK this summer so when something last-minute arises like a funeral, it becomes a very difficult situation to navigate,” said the source.
“The Home Office always needs 28 days’ notice to arrange his security detail, but that doesn’t stop him from coming over to the UK without their help.”
The news comes amid reports that Prince William and Prince Harry will not come face-to-face in New York in September despite both having events scheduled in the city at the same time.
According to a well-placed source, the Prince of Wales has decided against appearing at the Earthshot Innovation Summit scheduled to take place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan on September 24 and will likely send a video message instead.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry, 39, will be in Manhattan to advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives. His trip is set to take place during UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week, the latter of which runs from September 22 until September 29.

Prince Harry and Prince William haven’t been seen together in the UK since 2023 when they attended King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation.
The brothers first fell out around Christmas 2018, when Harry reportedly told William that he wasn’t doing enough to include Meghan in the Royal Family.
However, things reached a head in 2020 when the duke and his wife, Meghan Markle, stood down as working royals and moved to the United States.
Their move abroad was quickly followed by the release of the biography “Finding Freedom” which the couple supported.
That was quickly followed by an interview with Oprah Winfrey where the couple levelled a number of accusations at the Royal Family.
Soon to follow was the couple’s Netflix documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’ and the now infamous release of Harry’s autobiography, Spare.
In the mudslinger, Harry made a number of revelations about his brother, including that he pushed him to the floor during an altercation.
Harry also revealed details of a dispute between Meghan and the Princess of Wales over bridesmaid dresses – which reportedly made both women cry.
Since their move to the United States, the Sussexes have made very few visits to the United Kingdom.
The Duke of Sussex visited the UK to see his father, King Charles, in February of this year and again for the Invictus Games in May. However, the duke was unable to meet with any of his family during the latter trip due to a “diary clash”.
Meghan has not been seen in the UK since the late Queen’s funeral in 2022.
