Lala Kent Sues Ex-Business Partner Over ‘Give Them Lala’ Beauty Line as Vanderpump Rules Star Seeks Damages

Lala Kent is suing a cosmetic company she claims sold products under her Give Them Lala brand without her consent.

Following the recent arrival of her second daughter, Sosa, the 34-year-old Vanderpump Rules star filed a complaint against New Jersey-based Cosmesi LLC, claiming the company committed a number of violations, including trademark infringement, breach of contract, violation of the right of publicity, unfair business practices, and unjust enrichment.

According to a Law360 report on September 11, Lala submitted her court documents to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Tuesday, alleging that Cosmesi violated her registered trademark on “Give Them Lala” after a business deal went wrong.

As Lala explained in her paperwork, she and Cosmesi entered into an agreement in 2019 in which the company would market and sell cosmetics through Belle Vierge LLC, and Lala would serve as a brand ambassador.

As per the deal, Lala, who is represented by Jeffrey H. Grant and Matthew Follett of Fox Rothschild LLP, was given the right to ensure that all the products and marketing reflected her brand, and Cosmesi was prohibited from selling or creating anything without her approval.

Two years later, in 2021, Belle Vierge ceased operations. However, according to Lala, Cosmesi “refused to abide by its termination obligations,” and they continued to use her IP to sell products. In addition, on July 30, Cosmesi allegedly debuted a new lip product, described as a “matte + moisture lip wand,” with Lala’s registered IP without consent.

Lala’s court documents claim that Cosmesi’s new product debut was a breach of their licensing agreement and violated the provisions of their deal.

Lala is now seeking, per Law360, “compensatory and treble damages, disgorgement of profits, punitive damages, preliminary and permanent injunctions, interest, and attorney fees.”

Vanderpump Rules season 12 is expected to go into production sometime later this year.
