James Middleton First Shares Rare Update On Catherine’s Health After Completing Chemotherapy

James Middleton, Princess Katherine’s younger brother, recently offered a rare glimpse into his sister’s health following her completion of preventative chemotherapy. While promoting his new book *Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life*, James took a moment to share how the Princess of Wales is doing after her long health journey.

During his appearance on NBC’s *Today Show* on September 26th, James spoke to host Kelly Kobiella about his sister’s progress. Though careful not to share too many personal details, he reassured viewers that Catherine is receiving the support she needs.

“She’s doing okay,” he said. “It’s not for me to share on her behalf, you know, how everything’s going,” the royal sibling continued.

James, who credits his sister’s support along with his dogs, Cino and Pipo, for helping him through clinical depression, stated that Princess Catherine’s road to recovery was ongoing. “Like anything, the right support and focus is what she needs.”

James’s comments followed Princess Katherine’s own update, which she shared in a deeply emotional video on September 9th to announce her completion of chemotherapy. Surrounded by her husband and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—Katherine spoke candidly about the difficult journey her family had faced over the past nine months.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” Katherine said in the clip. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life, as you know it, can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters of the unknown.”

The Princess of Wales’s message was one of hope and gratitude as she reflected on how the experience deepened her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, particularly the importance of love. With chemotherapy behind her, Catherine expressed excitement about resuming public duties in the months ahead.

Beyond supporting his sister through her health challenges, James Middleton has been open about his own struggles with mental health. In his book *Meet Ella*, he shares the pivotal role his beloved dog, Ella, played in helping him overcome clinical depression. Throughout his recovery, James found strength not only from his dog but also from his family, including Princess Katherine and Prince William.

Katherine and William have both been involved in mental health charities and works, from which James also received help, he shared during his interview.

The Middleton family’s bond is one of resilience as they continue to support one another through life’s most challenging moments. Princess Catherine’s health battle first came to public attention on March 22nd when she revealed in another video that she had been diagnosed with cancer after doctors discovered cancer cells during a routine abdominal surgery in January.

The announcement marked a challenging chapter for the royal family, but they faced it with resilience and support. On the same day Catherine shared her diagnosis, James Middleton posted a touching tribute to his sister on Instagram.

The photo—a throwback to the pair enjoying an outdoor activity together—was captioned with a message of solidarity: “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains. As a family, we will climb this one with you too.”

James later elaborated on this powerful metaphor during his *Today* interview: “I like the metaphor of climbing a mountain,” he said. “It’s something that we’ve done as a family all of our lives, and you have to respect the mountain.”

As Princess Catherine takes her next steps toward a full recovery, the outpouring of love and support from both her family and the public reminds us all of the strength and togetherness that has helped her along the way.

With James Middleton’s touching words, the world gains a deeper understanding of the princess’s journey and the steadfast love that has helped her along the way. As for the Princess of Wales’s return to work, she’s given royal fans some glimmers of what that might look like, with plans for her annual Christmas concert now in the works.
