King Charles has expressed his delight following the Princess of Wales’s announcement that she will be attending the Trooping the Colour Ceremony on Saturday.

Princess Kate issued an emotional message on Friday evening confirming her attendance at the monarch’s birthday parade and gave an update on her health.

Shorty after Buckingham Palace released a statement from Charles, who said he was “delighted” that his beloved daughter-in-law will be able to attend the celebrations.

The statement read: “His Majesty is delighted that the Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day.”

The Princess of Wales bravely spoke about the course of her treatment and said it will be ongoing for a few more months.

Kate is currently going through preventative chemotherapy for her illness, after having been diagnosed with a type of cancer earlier this year.

She said: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”

On Saturday, it is understood that Kate will be joined by her husband, Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, while she is expected to appear on the Buckingham Palace Balcony alongside other members of the Royal Family in time for the RAF flypast.

Kate revealed in her message that she may attend more events over the summer while bravely acknowledging she was ” not out of the woods yet”.

She said: “I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

Her last public appearance was last year on Christmas Day when she joined the rest of the royals in Sandringham.
