Catherine STUNS World In Most Stunning High Slit Gowns With Ponytail At Her 42nd Birthday

It’s been a big year for Princess Catherine. Nothing could possibly top her tiara moment in the last 3 months of 2024, but she rang in her birthday in their trademark understated style by celebrating out of the spotlight. Kensington Palace declined to reveal any details about the Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday plans, other than acknowledging that she’d planned to spend the day privately.

In years past, her husband, Prince William, has swept her away to romantic retreats, and now that she’s marked her birthday, we wait to see how the princess will knock our socks off. Take a look back at one of our favorite moments, as she and her husband walked the red carpet at the Royal Premiere of *Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom* in London tonight. Wearing a floor-length Roland Mouret dress daringly split up the leg, the Duchess, famously known for recycling her wardrobe, looked stunning, while William looked dapper in a black tie.

But alas, no appearance from Prince George for this movie night. As Catherine is known to do, she opted for a dress that she had previously worn, just like when she donned the design to a private dinner back in May 2012. This time, the new mom flaunted some serious leg thanks to the gown’s thigh-high split. Don’t worry—she was still fairly covered up, with long sleeves, given the fact that it’s a chilly 46° in London today.

She also topped the gown with a $35 Zara crystal statement necklace, which was a lot more sparkle than the simple drop diamond earrings she wore last year. But the real surprise was that she opted to wear her hair back in a low ponytail, which is quite rare for the Duchess, who usually keeps her hair loose in a signature blowout style. However, the move wisely allowed her jewelry to be on full display. Well played, Catherine!

Sources say the couple, who share a love of Africa and got engaged in Kenya, were looking forward to seeing the movie, some of which was filmed in Kenya. On her wedding day to Prince William in 2011, she stepped out in a gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, featuring a lace neckline and sleeves, a sweetheart bodice, and a long train. In honor of the couple’s 13th wedding anniversary on the 29th of April, we’ve taken a look back at all the princess’s best white outfits.

We love the princess’s lace look at the Royal Ascot in 2017, when she chose a dress by Alexander McQueen for the annual horse racing event, teaming it with a chic fascinator and sweet drop earrings. Catherine had another red carpet moment at the BAFTAs in 2019 when she appeared in a one-shouldered white evening dress by Alexander McQueen. Pulling out all the stops for the big event, she even borrowed a pair of Princess Diana’s exquisite earrings for the occasion and styled her hair into a low chignon.

Just the outfit for a day at Wimbledon! The royal mom shone in a sailor-esque dress at the tennis championships back in 2002. Dressed to impress, Catherine rocked this elegant power suit during an official visit to Poland in 2017. Joining a whole host of A-listers on the red carpet, the Wales looked picture-perfect as they headed to the BAFTA Awards in 2020 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. In keeping with the event’s theme of sustainability, Catherine recycled a white and gold gown by Alexander McQueen, which she had first worn in 2012.

She donned this white military-style dress in April of 2016. The royal wore the outfit during her visit to India with Prince William. Catherine certainly cut a stylish figure in this lace gown, which featured a statement-patterned top and a full pleated skirt, gliding along the red carpet at the UK premiere of *A Street Cat Named Bob* in November 2016. We’re in love with this look! Donning a timeless and classic silhouette from one of Sophie Wessex’s favorite designers, Suzannah, the princess enjoyed a day out in the sunshine as she attended two days of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in 2019.

Looking effortlessly elegant in this off-the-shoulder white dress from the London-based designer Barbara Casasola, Catherine presented the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2016 prize at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Clearly one of her favorite dresses, she recycled it in 2019 for a charity gala dinner.
