Prince William has shared a never-before-seen childhood picture to commemorate Father’s Day.

Taking to the Prince and Princess of Wales’s social media accounts, William shared a sweet picture of himself aged two playing football with King Charles. With William being born in June 1982, the adorable picture would have been taken in 1984.

In the sweet snap, a beaming William is pictured next to his father who sweetly looks down at his eldest son.

Alongside the sweet picture, William wrote: “Happy Father’s Day, Pa. W.”

Fans appear delighted by the throwback picture, with one fan taking to Instagram to comment: “[red-heart emoji] Happy Father’s Day to both you and your Pa! You are both a credit to your children and the nation [red-heart emoji].”

Another wrore: “What a beautiful shot [red-heart emoji].”

A third fan commented: “Such a sweet portrait. Happy Father’s Day to you both [red-heart emoji].”

The picture comes just one day after William joined his father at this year’s Trooping the Colour, the annual royal event which marks the monarch’s birthday.

With his father travelling in a carriage rather than on horseback due to his ongoing cancer treatment, William rode horseback alongside Princess Anne and Prince Edward.

Much to the delight of royal fans, William was joined by his wife and three children at Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

Since the reveal of Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis earlier this year, the royal has taken a step back from duty to concentrate on her ongoing cancer treatment.

Although she was not expected to step out on Saturday, Princess Kate revealed on Friday evening – via a statement from the Palace – that she was “looking forward” to attending.

Their three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six – have also been kept out of the spotlight during their mother’s cancer treatment. The young trio looked excited to join in the celebrations on Saturday.

In response to Princess Kate’s statement on Friday, which also gave a promising update on her health, a spokesperson for Prince William said: “The Prince is pleased to see The Princess starting to engage with the work and projects that are important to her.

“He will continue to focus his time on supporting his wife and children while continuing to undertake his public duties.”

Although she made an appearance on Saturday, it remains unclear when she will appear at another event due to her ongoing cancer treatment.
