Princess Charlotte’s favourite snack is very grown up for a nine-year-old

Princess Kate revealed what her daughter Princess Charlotte likes to eat as a snack, which may surprise people.

Princess Charlotte has an appropriately sophisticated palate for a member of the Royal Family, despite only just turning nine years old.

Her preferred choice of snack was revealed by mum Princess Kate during a school visit to North London back in 2019, when Charlotte was still barely old enough to go to school herself.

While at Lavender Primary School in Enfield Kate said that her daughter “loves olives”, a surprising choice for a child given how salty and sharp they can be.

The Princess was there as part of Children’s Mental Health Week and was told to bring along an item that made her feel happy, in the case a charming family photo of herself with Prince William and their children at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

In 2018 Kate confessed to a young patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital that Charlotte’s unusual taste in food may be inherited from her.

Kate told a four-year-old patient at the hospital: “I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well.”

Although the Princess usually maintains a healthy diet, she still likes to treat herself every now and then.

When she visited Canada and the USA with Prince William before Charlotte was born, she was seen happily tucking into a bag of popcorn at a basketball game.

HELLO! reported: “During the royal tour of Canada and the USA in 2014, Kate’s passion for popcorn was revealed when she and William attended a basketball game in New York.

“Kate was spotted enjoying a bucket of the tasty snack with William at an NBA game, occasionally reaching into the bag throughout the match.”

The Princess of Wales has remained out of the spotlight since the beginning of the year, as she announced in March that she was being treated for cancer.

However the family still posted a new image of Charlotte for her ninth birthday on May 2, with the caption: “Happy 9th Birthday, Princess Charlotte! Thank you for all of the kind messages today.”

In the portrait Charlotte grins delightedly at the camera while posing in a garden, wearing a maroon cardigan over a navy jumper and floral blouse, along with a denim skirt and tights.

While she normally wears her long golden hair partly tied back or in braids for royal events, the picture shows it in a more relaxed style flowing loose over her shoulders.

Royal fans online gushed over the picture and how “grown up” Charlotte looked, with her last being pictured with the rest of her family at Sandringham on Christmas Day last year.
