William and Kate burst in tears as princess Anne condition gets worst after doctors diagnosis

In recent news, the titles of nearby sites and papers in the west of Britain have been dominated by two major events: the Glastonbury Festival and Princess Anne’s hospital admission.

Earlier in the week, Somerset Live captured significant attention with its coverage of the reopening of Beckford’s Tower in Bath this weekend. The stunning attraction has undergone a £3.9 million restoration project, which now includes showcasing a cavern in a new museum.

Meanwhile, the Stroud News and Journal and the Gloucestershire Standard have been busy reporting on Princess Anne being struck by a horse and taken to Southmead Hospital. Similarly, Lucy Town reported that 50 unruly cows caused a commotion, prompting police intervention.

The Swindon Advertiser covered the story of an illegal barbershop hiring immigrants as employees and also reported on Coldplay practicing at the Cheese and Grain, causing crowds to gather despite no secret gig being announced.

Worthy Farm was another focal point, covered by the Somerset County Gazette, which conducted an interview with Joe Rush about his Carhenge display. Tom Leman wrote a feature about the Victorian dock and its connection to Glastonbury.

The Somerset Leveler took a different angle, reporting on a nursing home being transformed into a mini-festival to give its residents a taste of Glastonbury. Bristol Live has also been active across Glastonbury, including a review by Shannon Brown and Dad about Sir Michael Eavis’s performance on Thursday just after 4:30 PM. Sir Michael gave festival-goers a nostalgic set, singing Frank Sinatra classics like “Life’s Been Good to Me” and “It Was a Very Good Year,” as well as Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds.”

This diverse range of stories highlights the vibrant and multifaceted nature of local news in the west of Britain, from major cultural events to local incidents and community initiatives.
