Prince Harry’s three-word admission about King Charles and Prince William over next book
Prince Harry’s memoir Spare was a huge financial success, but he may regret writing a second for more personal reasons.
Prince Harry believes Prince William and King Charles “wouldn’t ever forgive” him if he decided to pen another tell-all book following the publication of Spare.
The Duke of Sussex believes he has enough material about his family to write another memoir, but has held back for fear of upsetting the royals even more.
He and Meghan Markle have faced backlash from some quarters for so openly talking about royal life in their interview with Oprah Winfrey and on their Netflix series.
Harry’s candid revelations in Spare in particular caused a stir, as he claimed his brother had physically attacked him during an argument and that the King was not suited to parenthood.
Following the publication of the book in January 2023, Harry told The Telegraph: “It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out.
Prince Harry fears his family would never forgive another book
“There are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me.”
Even without these tales it seems Spare has damaged royal relations enough, as William is adamant there is currently no way for him to reconcile with his brother.
Royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror. “Harry’s visit to the UK has done nothing to repair royal relations. Harry has been very publicly snubbed by his father and brother.
Harry and Meghan are now estranged from the Royal Family
“William says nothing. It is as if Harry no longer exists. There’s been no obvious criticism from either side, but the silence from William is deafening.”
An insider also told The Times in early May that the King was “wary” of meeting Harry during his trip to London due to the “publicity circus” around their relationship.
The Duke spent a few days back home to attend the 10th anniversary commemorative service for the Invictus Games, but did not meet any of the royals while he was in the UK.
Harry and William are no longer speaking
The source said: “It’s all very sad. While it is true that the King is understandably wary about meeting with Harry, given the publicity circus that seems to surround all such visits, he did of course agree to see his son at the most vulnerable moment of his illness [in February], and at very short notice.
“While he was hardly going to roll out the red carpet the moment this Invictus trip was announced, with doctors advising him to focus on his treatment and recovery, the idea that he refused to find space in his diary … well, let’s say recollections may vary once again.”
Harry and the King did briefly meet in February when His Majesty’s cancer diagnosis was announced, but they were only able to spend around 45 minutes together.
