Kate Middleton burst in tears as princess Anne doctors reveal the truth about his head injury

Princess Anne has made a memorable return to public duties after sustaining a minor head injury, believed to have been caused by a horse, last month.

At the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships in Gloucestershire, the Princess Royal presented awards and met with winners. This visit marks a significant step in her gradual return to public engagements after being hospitalized in June.

The Princess Royal has been recovering at her Gloucestershire residence, Gatcombe Park, since the incident. She had to postpone a trip to Canada and a state banquet with the visiting Emperor and Empress of Japan during her recovery. The injury occurred on June 23rd as she was leaving her estate while horses were nearby. Her concussion prevented her from recalling the specifics of the incident. The 73-year-old was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol on June 24th for treatment and stayed there for several nights. According to the NHS, concussions can cause distraction, sluggishness, and lack of concentration, requiring weeks for a full recovery.

RDA CEO Michael Clark expressed the organization’s delight at Princess Anne’s attendance, highlighting her long-standing support since becoming their patron in 1971 and president in 1986. He noted, “The princess, who serves as our president, holds a very special place in the hearts of the RDA community as a whole. Over the past five decades, she has helped us celebrate many significant milestones and provided invaluable support.”

Princess Anne is the third working royal to temporarily step back from public duties this year due to health issues. Earlier in the year, both the Prince and Princess of Wales also reduced their public engagements after being diagnosed with cancer. Princess Catherine made her first appearance since her diagnosis at the Trooping the Colour in June. Meanwhile, King Charles resumed his public duties in April. Recently, he met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and actor Idris Elba to discuss the challenges faced by young people in modern Britain and how the Prince’s Trust can support youth and address youth violence.

Princess Anne’s involvement with the RDA has been significant over the past five decades. Despite the recent injury, she adhered to standard concussion protocols and gradually resumed her royal responsibilities. At the championships, she wore an olive green checked suit with matching blue gloves and a trilby, joining allies in the field and presenting around two dozen awards.

The incident last month involved a concussion, leaving the exact details unclear. Although an air ambulance was initially considered, she was ultimately transported by road after receiving on-site treatment. Her return to public duties marks a positive step in her recovery.
