It has been confirmed that Princess Kate will attend her beloved Wimbledon on Sunday, after weeks of speculation.
Princess Kate will be making an anticipated return to Wimbledon this Sunday as Kensington Palace have confirmed she will be at the Mens’ Singles Final on Sunday.
As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club Kate has been handing out the winners’ trophies since 2016, although she has also been on hand to console the losers too.
Back in 2019, the Princess of Wales had some words of comfort for her good pal Roger Federer after he lost to Novak Djokovic, even appearing to break royal protocol as she put her arm around him.
Generally members of the Royal Family are expected to remain reserved in public, with older generations normally refraining from physical contact.
But Kate has always openly expressed her feelings at the tennis, as she was heard telling the former Wimbledon champion that he was “incredible”, and given her return to the tournament tomorrow we may see her show her emotions yet again as she watches Novak Djokovic play Carlos Alcaraz.
Princess Kate loves attending Wimbledon
In 2017, Kate was once again on Centre Court to cheer Roger Federer as he won his record eighth Wimbledon title against Croatian Marin Cilic.
The Princess was so delighted to see him emerge victorious that she gave him not one, not two, but three congratulatory kisses on the cheek.
This level of familiarity demonstrates the friendship between the pair, with Federer even giving Prince George tennis lessons at the Middleton family home in Bucklebury.

The tennis star has since praised George’s skills and said he was a “sweet boy”, as he told reporters at Wimbledon in 2019: “I love to see that they are [the Wales children] into tennis or into sports.”
Federer added that the young heir had a “good swing”, and also spoke highly of Kate and her well-documented fondness for the game.
He said: “His mum has always enjoyed tennis. I hope he’ll stay the same in a few years’ time and this is not just an in-the-moment situation.”

When asked if the rumours were true that he was George’s favourite tennis player, Federer responded: “I think I have a little advantage that I actually spent some time with him, so maybe I’m the only player he’s ever met. Then you have a little head start into who is your favourite player.”
Kate and Prince William have also turned to Federer’s one-time rival Djokovic for some advice on how to get their children into tennis.
Back in 2018, the Serbian asked the couple at the tournament: “How are your children?”, to which Kate replied: “Yeah, very well”. William then said: “Very well thanks, very well… Trying to get a tennis racket in their hand and a football!”
A source said at the time: “She [Kate] says with George just being four he wants to whack a ball, so she was asking what sort of stuff she should be doing.”
