Catherine’s Broken Heart: William’s DESPERATE Bid To Get Her Back As He Reveals SHOCKING Details

The course of true love doesn’t often run smoothly—just ask the Prince and Princess of Wales. William and Katherine’s summer holiday with their three children was unexpectedly interrupted by shocking revelations about their marriage in a new book. Although they have now been married for more than 13 years and juggle their royal duties with bringing up three children, things were once a lot rockier. In fact, in the years before they became engaged, the pair, who had met at university, famously split.

It came after they both graduated from university and William had begun life in the Army while Catherine worked for a retail chain in London. With engagement speculation reaching fever pitch and William not quite ready to settle down, he called Catherine to suggest they split up as they both needed a bit of space to find their own way. In an emotionally charged 30-minute conversation, they both acknowledged they were on different pages.

It was a devastating blow to Catherine, who felt doubly let down at being dumped over the phone. Though it wasn’t the first time William had called time on their relationship, it felt final. Now, in a new explosive royal book, it’s been claimed that William celebrated the breakup with a boozy night out on the town with his close pals in London’s exclusive Mayfair and was heard shouting a brutal two-word response.

In the book “Catherine, Princess of Wales: The Biography,” author Robert Jobson writes that William was heard shouting, “I’m free!” The prince shouted as he slipped into a drunken version of the robot dance. He then told his friends that they should all drink the menu, which they more or less ended up doing. The future king soon went back to military life and was holed up in army barracks while his girlfriend continued her single life.

Despite her initial heartbreak, Katherine also followed William’s lead and spent many nights out on the town with her sister Pippa in a series of daring outfits. She even attracted the attention of shipping heir Sir Henry Rner, leaving her now-husband with doubts about the split and wanting to woo her back. Thankfully, the pair were brought back together at a mutual friend’s “Freaking Naughty” themed fancy dress party where the prince turned up in a policeman’s helmet, and the princess dressed up as a nurse in fishnet tights.

They spent the first part of the evening deep in conversation before hitting the dance floor, where they ended up kissing. When friends joked they should get a room, they sloped off together. People love the idea that someone put them back together, but they put themselves together far more—the chemistry between William and Catherine did the rest.

After their rendezvous, however, they kept their reconciliation a secret at first. Speaking out about his role in their rekindling, Sam said in 2011, “There’s an idea that I was like Cupid with a bow and arrow.” Despite their best efforts to keep the relationship under wraps, the pair were spotted kissing at an army party at barracks in Bovington, Dorset. In July 2007, Katherine and her brother James were seen at the concert for Diana held at Wembley to mark ten years since William’s mother’s death.

The couple jet-setted away together in September for a romantic holiday in the Seychelles, and it was during this trip that the princess demanded security if they were to make a final go of things. According to Jobson, the author claims they made a secret pact to marry at some point in the near future. By April 2008, William qualified as a pilot, which meant he’d be spending the next five years working as an RAF search and rescue pilot.

Two years on, he was posted at RAF Valley Anglesey. Catherine, at the time growing impatient, made it clear that she wasn’t happy going the long haul in a long-distance relationship. They found a four-bedroom farmhouse near his base where they could live together while Catherine worked remotely as a web designer for her family’s event business. While the future queen was content with being close to her now-husband, she admitted she became lonely at times, particularly when William worked night shifts.

He finally popped the big question in 2010 during a trip to Kenya in a romantic setting by Lake Alice.
