King Charles finally found out the tragic reasons behind princess Diana d€ath involving Camilla

When King Charles learned that Princess Diana had died in a car accident, he was devastated.

The beloved Princess of Wales died on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36. She was being pursued by paparazzi in Paris when the tragic accident occurred, also claiming the lives of her companion, Dodi Fayed, and their chauffeur, Henri Paul. According to an observer, when Charles was first informed over the phone that Diana had died, he “yelled like an injured creature,” as recounted by Christopher Andersen, author of *The Day Diana Died*, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

After receiving the news, Charles rushed from Balmoral Castle in Scotland to Paris to bring Diana’s body back to Britain. Andersen shared that when Charles first saw her body, he was so overwhelmed that he nearly fainted. A nurse in the room reported that Charles appeared to have been “struck by something invisible,” which shocked those around him, given the turbulent history between him and Diana.

Despite their marital disputes, Charles was devastated by Diana’s death, possibly more than he had anticipated. This was highlighted when a letter Charles wrote to a friend was sold at auction for $2,000. In the letter, Charles expressed the “unbearable emptiness” he felt four months after Diana’s death.

Andersen noted that in the months leading up to her death, Diana and Charles had made efforts to reconcile for the sake of their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Diana had confided in friends that she and Charles had decided to put their past animosities behind them and had become, in her words, “very best friends.” One of Diana’s close friends revealed that her love for Charles never truly died, and Diana even acknowledged, albeit reluctantly, that Charles’s love for Camilla, his long-time mistress, was admirable.

During the final months of Diana’s life, she and Charles developed a warm friendship for the sake of their children. Andersen mentioned that Charles and Diana exchanged surprisingly affectionate notes, with Charles addressing one to her as “My dearest Diana” and signing off with “Bunches of love.”

When Diana died in the horrific car accident, Charles was faced with the loss of the mother of his two young sons and the world’s most adored woman. To ensure that Diana received the funeral she deserved, Charles had to battle his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the entire royal establishment.

At Diana’s funeral on September 6, 1997, Prince William, Prince Harry, and Charles stood outside Westminster Abbey, visibly grieving. Andersen recounted that despite his profound sorrow, Charles maintained his traditional “stiff upper lip.” Unfortunately, neither William nor Harry received any grief counseling after their mother’s death. Both were famously made to walk behind their mother’s coffin through the streets of London, which were filled with millions of mourners. Their uncle, Earl Spencer, later described this as a “passage of despondency.”

Andersen shared that both William and Harry have never fully come to terms with their mother’s death and, in many ways, have not yet emerged from that “grief tunnel.” Charles, on the other hand, was concerned that Diana’s memory would forever prevent him from marrying Camilla. It took eight years after Diana’s death for Charles to receive Queen Elizabeth II’s approval to marry Camilla, and even then, only after he promised that Camilla would never be known as “Queen,” a title many believed was rightfully Diana’s.
