Catherine & Her Family Paid TOUCHING TRIBUTE To Princess Diana On Her 27th Passing Anniversary

Princess Diana died following a car crash in Paris more than 25 years ago. At the time of her death, her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were just 15 and 12 years old. Therefore, their wives and children never got to meet her. Over the years, the princes have spoken about keeping their mother’s memory alive, especially with their children. William has stated that it is important they know who she was and that she existed.

While Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis know all about their Granny Diana, many have wondered if William and Catherine ever took them to Diana’s grave site. In a surprising and deeply emotional gesture, Princess Catherine recently shared how Prince William has taken meaningful steps to ensure their three children remember and honor their late grandmother. On the 27th anniversary of her tragic passing, as the anniversary approached, the couple took the kids to Diana’s grave at Althorp.

It must be very poignant when they do so. Catherine always makes sure her kids know all about Diana, especially on anniversaries such as her birthday or death. Her mom, Carole Middleton, is very close to George, Charlotte, and Louis, and of course, she is the grandmother they have grown up with. Sadly, they never met Diana, and neither did Middleton. She said on the day she got engaged to William that she would have loved to.

Despite the passage of time, both William and Catherine continue to find ways to incorporate memories of Diana into their everyday lives. One of the heartfelt traditions they have instilled in their children is the creation of handmade cards to honor Granny Diana each year. These cards are often adorned with drawings, personal messages, and memories they have heard about their grandmother. These simple yet heartfelt gestures allow George, Charlotte, and Louis to express their love and admiration for their grandmother.

Princess Diana was laid to rest at the Althorp estate in Northamptonshire, which is the family home of Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer. Her grave site is located on an island next to an ornamental lake called The Oval within Althorp Park’s Pleasure Garden. The path to the lake is lined with 36 oak trees, each of which represents a year of Diana’s life. The burial site is only accessible by boat and is off-limits to the public but open to royal family members who want to stop by and pay their respects.

In 2001, Diana’s brother publicly criticized then-Prince Charles for never visiting his ex-wife’s grave. He stated that Charles always had an open invitation to visit but had yet to take it up. A palace spokesperson would not confirm or deny if the royal has visited since, only stating that whether Charles visits the grave is a personal and private matter for him.

With the 27th anniversary of her death having just passed on August 31st, the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, seems to be feeling a pull to reconnect with the only family he has left. Harry opted to stay with his uncle Charles at Althorp for the short duration of his visit, likely due to his close bond with Diana’s side of the family. This pull appears to have only grown stronger following his recent low-profile trip to the UK for his mother’s brother-in-law, Lord Robert Fellowes’ memorial service.

The event, held close to the royal Sandringham estate, marked a rare occasion where both royal brothers were seen together. While they reportedly kept their distance and were not seen speaking to each other, perhaps their icy relationship has begun to thaw. The joint appearance of the royal siblings, both seated quietly at the back of the church, was a poignant moment. Yet, they reportedly chose not to sit near each other, a decision that underscored the continuing tensions between them.

According to sources close to the family, while it was a relief to see both brothers paying their respects, any hope for a rekindling of their once-close bond seemed distant. “We are very happy to confirm both princes were there,” a family friend shared, “but the anticipated warmth of a reunion was notably absent.”
